Grand Canyon National Park attracts more than 4.5 million visitors a year, with 84 percent entering through the south and east entrances for the South Rim, according to a tourism study by Northern Arizona University published in April 2005. Among its other findings:

• Flagstaff tops the list among communities also visited by Grand Canyon visitors.
• Nearly half of the visitors were between the ages of 46 and 65 and over a third were 26 to 45.
• More than 85 percent had attended some college.
• The Internet was third most used source, behind family/friends and previous visits, to obtain information about Grand Canyon National Park.
